IMAGINE Greeks having kept their exact traditions too, like Panathenea and thousands of others.. Persians, Egyptians and others too.. But of course conquerors and millenia, take a toll. Japan is lucky to be a far away isolated island.

The festival: excellent and wonderful. The video: beautifully filmed and informative, but why is EVERYTHING slowed down? It seems most people here like it, but I would prefer more footage in the same time and the more realistic, less mystical "cloud-walking" feel.

Fantastic procession. Seppuku and honour system. So alien to us westerners. The period costumes are out of this world.. Japan was and still is as mysterious as it has been through the centuries but alas even there modern times are changing the country. I hope that this amazing history will be preserved for the world and many generations to come.

Despite many may think the Japanese Geisha, those women were very influent during the Japanese samurai era. The main function of the geisha was to provide an atmosphere of chic and gaiety for her wealthy clientele in the Shogunate times. Geisha were usually exquisitely dressed in traditional kimonos and delicately mannered and have a knowledge not only of the past but also of contemporary gossip. These women hidden under they softness, kindly and beauty, were also were fierce, warriors, spys, many of them mastering skills in Kenjutsu Ninjutsu and Kodoku poisoning knowledge, during Japan Edo period, some warlords used geishas to infiltrate enemies places to find out plans and conspiracies, these special women were called kunoichi-no-jutsu, wich these women were trained in subversive activities like man for infiltration and information-gathering, during Ashikaga and Tokugawa era 1336-1868.

Even by watching this calligraphy on my computer screen, thousands of miles away from the work and the artist Kawao san, can feel the work coming to life as something new and the beauty of the tradition at once. The honesty and beauty of such an art can bring tears to my eyes and joy to my heart.

I love Kyoto-Ben, it's the accent that being used in this video that spoke by her. The accent sounds so grand with a reason, and it really does tuned me on. If you are learning Japanese, mostly it is the standard Japanese, without any dialects, it is called 標準語, Hyoujungo. That's why you will find it very weird to listen to.
